Saudi Arabia’s push towards digital transformation has taken another major step forward. The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), alongside the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), has officially introduced SASO 3114:2026 ("Requirements for Specific ICT Equipment").
This new unified standard officially replaces and supersedes the long-standing SASO-CITC-GEN002 specification. Crucially, it changes the minimum network connection requirement for smartphones entering the Kingdom from LTE (4G) to mandatory 5G capabilities.

Besides smartphones, SASO 3114:2026 also outlines updated technical parameters for other specific ICT hardware categories, such as mobile routers, tablets, and customer-premises equipment (CPE). Exporters are highly advised to coordinate with their manufacturing facilities early to align technical documentation and test reports with the new standard.
Menacert offers direct expertise and end-to-end support to help you achieve hassle-free Type Approval under SASO 3114:2026.
