Saudi Arabia Publishes New Regulation on Electromagnetic Compatibility for Electrical Products

The new Technical Regulation will define EMC requirements applicable to most electrical products, although certain products will be exempt from these standards. Manufacturers aiming to comply with this regulation will need to follow the Declaration of Conformity (DoC) process as outlined in the regulation as well as referencing the specified standards.
The process to demonstrate conformity will be similar to the existing RoHS compliance process but will include an additional step to gain product approval.

Exclusions from the Regulation
The following product categories will not fall under the new EMC requirements:
  • Radio and telecommunication terminal equipment
  • Aerial navigation devices and spare parts
  • Amateur telecommunication devices
  • Electronic boards used for research and development
  • Medical equipment
  • Equipment with low-radiated electromagnetic fields that don't interfere with other EM fields
The regulation is scheduled to take effect on May 17, 2024.
As of now, SASO has not released an English version of the regulation. MENACERT will share it as soon as it becomes available.
