Mongolia Updates Type Approval Regulations and Certificate Validity

The Communications Regulatory Commission (CRC) of Mongolia has introduced significant updates to the regulatory framework governing wireless and broadcasting equipment. These changes, based on the Law on Radio Waves, are the following:

  • New Type Approval certificates will now be issued with a 3-year validity period. Upon an extension request, the certificate will be reissued, but the original certificate number will remain unchanged, simplifying record-keeping and labeling.
  • The issue date for a renewed certificate will be based strictly on the actual approval date, rather than the expiration date of the previous certificate.
  • Manufacturers may resubmit previously used test reports for renewals, provided the products have not undergone any design or technical modifications.

In accordance with Mongolian law, all wireless technology products—including radio and TV broadcasting receivers—are subject to mandatory Type Approval before entering the market.

Importers and manufacturers are encouraged to review their current portfolios to ensure all wireless and broadcasting devices comply with these mandatory requirements.
