New compulsory standards for industrial products in Morocco
The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment and the Digital Economy of Morocco published the Official Bulletin of Order No. 2911-20 informing importers, distributors and manufacturers of industrial products about compulsory application of:

  • The new versions of 25 Moroccan standards, from March 17, 2021,
  • 40 new Moroccan standards, from June 17, 2021.

The list of these standards is published in appendices 1 and 2 of the aforementioned decree, and can be downloaded from the website of the Ministry.

In addition, from February 2021 some categories of the imported industrial products will be subject to control when crossing the Moroccan borders. The product categories are:

  • Automotive spare parts: tires, batteries, brake linings, glazing, filter elements, mechanical control cables, leaf springs and inner tubes;
  • Construction products: ceramic tiles, cement, waterproofing sheets, sanitary products, fittings, plastic pipes;
  • Wooden panels;
  • Gas appliances: gas heaters, gas water heaters;
  • Wire rod and rebar;
  • Articles of clothing other than work clothes;
  • Footwear;
  • Electrical products: chargers for cell phones, circuit breakers;
  • Blankets, rugs, carpets and upholstery;
  • Baby diapers.

Other industrial products subject to import control are checked before shipment to Morocco and must be the subject of a certificate of conformity issued by one of the three inspection bodies approved on arrival at the Moroccan borders.
