Saudi Arabia adopts new standard SASO-IEC 62368-1:2020

(SASO) has announced that the new SASO-IEC 62368-1:2020 (IEC 62368-1:2018 3.0 Ed.) will soon replace the standards SASO-IEC 60950-1 and SASO-IEC 60065.
The new standard is effective from July 1, 2021 and will be the only standard acceptable to obtain the SASO IECEE certificate and Saber Certified Body Certification of Conformity (CoC).

Certificates issued before July 1, 2021, will remain valid for one year from the date of issuance. After that, they have to be renewed according to the new SASO-IEC 62368-1:2020 standard.

• Electric Water Pumps (scope is 0 to 3.5KW)
• Mobile Phones (also require Saudi CITC certification – cannot apply without it)
• Wired Mobile Device Chargers
• Wireless Mobile Device Chargers
• In-Car Mobile Device Chargers
• Mobile Phone Batteries
• Portable Power Banks
• Laptops and Tablets (if item has sim-card slot, it will also require Saudi CITC certification – cannot apply without it)
• Smart Bands
• Smart Watches (if item has sim-card slot, it will also require Saudi CITC certification – cannot apply without it)
• Wireless Headphones
• Bluetooth Speakers
• Televisions and Monitors
• Dishwashers (household type only)
• Laptop Chargers (Power Adapters)
• Lighting Products (may also have additional SASO Energy Efficiency Testing + Certification requirements depending on the type of product)
• Electronic Smoking Devices
• Electronic Pumps With a Capacity of 5hp or Less (mandatory from 01/07/2021)
• Coffee Preparation Devices (mandatory from 01/07/2021)
• Electric Oil Fryers (mandatory from 01/07/2021)
• Coffee Preparation Devices Video Game Devices and Their Accessories (mandatory from 01/07/2021)
• Water Boilers (mandatory from 01/07/2021)
• Electric Cables (mandatory from 01/07/2021)
