UAE changes conditions for getting mobile SIM Card PoS registration certificate

UAE changes conditions for getting mobile SIM Card PoS registration certificate
The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) of the United Arab Emirates - formerly the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) - informed about the updated version of the Regulatory Policy on Registration Requirements for Mobile Consumers.
The Policy now highlights the requirements of the Federal Law by Decree No. 3 of 2003 and its amendments(the telecom law) and the Mobile SIM Card PoS Registration Policy. According to the latter, only duly registered with TDRA licensees and their outlets can sell mobile SIM cards and provide telecommunications services.

Thus, the updated version of the Regulatory Policy requires an applicant for registration of a mobile SIM Card PoS and is linked with the involved licensee to obtain No-Objection Certificate (NOC) where information on the PoS and the sellers is indicated.

Such actions will help the TDRA to ensure that the PoS is able to provide all services with regard to obtaining mobile SIM cards.

Now the TDRA could control the relationships between the customer, licensees, and the PoS which makes it possible to keep the rights of all involved parties.
The TDRA also notes that it will carry out surveillance of the PoS to see whether it meets the requirements and provisions of the mobile SIM Card PoS Policy.
