SASO adopts new standards to open international markets to Saudi products
The Board of Directors of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization approved (239) a new Saudi standard specification, within the authority, to strengthen the national industry and open international markets to Saudi products. The Saudi specifications clarified that it has adopted two standards for the chemical and petroleum products sector, in addition to the adoption of (49) standards, including (41) standards adopted by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), and (8) adopted by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Withdrawing (9) standard specifications for paints products and replacing them with new standard specifications.

In the textile products sector, the authority adopted one standard specification, in addition to adopting (8) standards by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

In the field of electrical and electronic products, the Council agreed to amend the date of the mandatory application of Standard No. (SASO 2938: 2019) “specifications for terrestrial audio broadcasting receivers”, so that it is obligatory starting from 01-01-2021 on all broadcast receivers. Radio broadcasters, and all imported radio receivers with vehicles, starting with the 2024 models, in addition to modifying and withdrawing a number of other standard specifications.

The new standard specifications also included the metrology and scales sector, as Saudi specifications for the products of this sector adopted (82) a standard specification by the International Electrotechnical Organization (IEC), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), as optional (new) Saudi standard specifications, in addition to updating the standard. The standard for metal materials.

In addition, (5) Saudi standard specifications for construction and building products were withdrawn and replaced with (5) other Saudi standard specifications, and (30) standard specifications were adopted in its language from international standards, including (27) for the quality sector, and (3) specifications for the service sector. , Along with (3) standard specifications for the mechanical and metal products sector.
