Jordan Introduces New Type Approval Regulations for Telecommunications Devices
The Telecommunications Regulation Commission (TRC) of Jordan has implemented new Type Approval Regulations effective September 15, 2024. These revisions aim to streamline the approval process for telecommunications devices while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
The most important changes
1. Shorter certificate validity. The validity period for type approval certificates has been reduced to one year, requiring more frequent renewals and updates.
2. Labeling Requirements Products must now feature specific labels containing essential information such as:
Manufacturer's name,
Brand
Model
Marketing name
IMEI (for devices with a cellular module).
These labels should be prominently displayed on the product, packaging, user manual, and within the device's operating system.
Exemptions
Certain product categories are exempt from these regulations, including:
Printers
Copiers
Monitors
Desktop computers
Cameras without high-power radio functionality
Short-range devices supporting Bluetooth
Satellite television receivers
Wired phones without a radio communications module
Manufacturers, importers and distributors operating in Jordan's telecommunications market must stay informed about regulatory changes. Adherence ensures products meet standards and can be sold legally.
