Algeria Awards 5G Licenses to Three Operators

On July 3, 2025, the Regulatory Authority of Post and Electronic Communications (ARPCE) officially announced the results of its competitive bidding procedure for 5G licenses. The public announcement, held at the Banque Nationale de l'Habitat, marked a key step in bringing next-generation mobile technology to Algeria.
Following a bidding process that concluded on June 22, 2025, three operators — Optimum Telecom Algérie (OTA), Wataniya Télécom Algérie (WTA), and Algérie Télécom Mobile (ATM) — submitted their offers.
After a thorough evaluation based on the technical and financial criteria outlined in the competition rules, the bids were ranked as follows:
  1. Algérie Télécom Mobile (ATM)
  2. Wataniya Télécom Algérie (WTA)
  3. Optimum Telecom Algérie (OTA)
As a result, all three operators have been awarded licenses to establish and operate fifth-generation (5G) public mobile networks and provide related services in Algeria. This move is expected to significantly enhance the country's telecommunications infrastructure and accelerate its digital transformation.
