The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of Lebanon has officially assumed full responsibility for all Type Approval and certification activities, superseding the former role of the Ministry of Telecommunications (MoT).
This transition marks a significant shift in Lebanon’s regulatory landscape, introducing stricter oversight and new compliance standards for all telecommunications and radio equipment.
Main Changes:
As of January 22, 2026, all Type Approval certificates previously issued by the MoT are no longer valid for regulatory purposes.
There is no automatic migration or "grandfathering" of old approvals. Every product model previously approved by the MoT requires a completely new application under the TRA framework.
Unlike the previous MoT approvals (which had unlimited validity), new TRA certificates are valid for two (2) years and must be renewed.
A new official TRA conformity label has been introduced and is expected to become a mandatory requirement for all certified products.
Until a valid TRA certificate is obtained, products are not considered compliant, which may lead to interrupted market access and customs clearance refusals. While the TRA is currently finalizing the issuance process, manufacturers are strongly advised to initiate their applications immediately to avoid delays.
