The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) proudly announced that the UAE has set a new global record by achieving the world's fastest 5G speed of 10 gigabits per second (Gbps).
The remarkable achievement was accomplished during the second phase of the "5G-Advanced" trials, in collaboration with the country's leading telecom service providers.
Harnessing the power of the 6GHz frequency band, this milestone is pivotal for the expansive adoption of the Internet of Things (IoT) and emerging metaverse applications. Notably, the UAE stands as the pioneer, being the first to achieve this speed on the 6GHz spectrum.
This achievement isn't just about breaking records. It sets the stage for future projects for the UAE's telecommunications sector that demand ultra-fast connectivity. From remote healthcare diagnostics to the evolution of autonomous self-driving vehicles and the blueprint for smart cities, the possibilities are vast.
H.E. Majed Sultan al-Mesmar, the Director-General of TDRA, shared, "This is a significant achievement for the UAE and will help us to maintain our leadership in the field of technological innovation. The results of these trials will enable us to provide our citizens and residents with the best possible telecommunications services."

Moreover, this initiative aligns perfectly with the UAE's vision for 2023, the "Year of Sustainability". The implementation of Phase II of the “5G-Advanced” trials project is part of TDRA's efforts to support the initiatives and activities organized by the government of UAE. Emerging studies hint that next-gen 5G networks might be more eco-friendly, saying that "the carbon footprint of future 5G mobile networks is expected to be lower if additional mid-band spectrum is made available."
In a nutshell, this milestone is a testament to their relentless drive. TDRA remains dedicated to equipping the UAE with unparalleled telecommunications infrastructure and services. Today's success of these trials represents a giant leap toward that ambitious horizon.
