Due to the ongoing administrative landscape in Yemen, the telecommunications type approval system has officially branched into two distinct regulatory authorities. To ensure full market access and legal compliance across the entire country, manufacturers must now navigate two separate certification processes.
The Two Regulatory Bodies:
- Ministry of Telecommunications — Sana’a Authority: Manages type approval for products entering and operating within Sana’a-controlled regions.
- Ministry of Telecommunications — Aden (Transitional Government): Recently launched a new certification scheme for all equipment destined for Aden-controlled territories.
Neither certificate is cross-compatible. A certificate issued by the Sana’a authority is not recognized in Aden-controlled areas, and vice-versa.
To avoid customs delays, equipment seizures, or unauthorized operation, we strongly recommend securing two MTIT certificates for every regulated product—one for each region.
